The Day of Arafah is the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah and one of the holiest days in Islam. It is the day when pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafah during Hajj, seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
"There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah."
(Muslim, 1348)
For those not performing Hajj, fasting on this day is highly recommended. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year."
(Muslim, 1162)
It’s a day filled with immense blessings: dua is accepted, sins are forgiven, and Allah’s mercy is abundant. Muslims should seize the opportunity by fasting, making dua, remembering Allah (dhikr), and seeking forgiveness.
The Day of Arafah reminds us of Allah’s vast mercy and the importance of humility before Him. It prepares us spiritually for the celebrations of Eid al-Adha.
