Pay
Fidyah

When someone is unable to fast due to a legitimate reason, they should try and make up those missed days by fasting at another time. However, if one was unable to fast those days (due to chronic illness or old age etc.) Then they must pay Fidya, to feed a poor person for each day a fast is missed.

The cost of fidya (fidyah) is determined based on the cost of feeding a poor person for one day. Here's how you can calculate it:

Local Food Cost Approach
Check the cost of a basic meal in your area (e.g., rice, bread, and a protein source). Multiply this by the number of missed fasts.

For example, if a meal costs $20, and you missed 10 fasts, the total fidyah would be: $20 × 10 = $200

The Fidyah amount of $20 for Ramadan 2025 will provide an individual in need with meal for a day. Sadaqa Welfare Fund has a 100% donation policy that will ensure your Fidyah money goes directly towards feeding poor and needy families throughout Ramadan in regions in vital need of food for Iftar. This Ramadan we will be feeding the poor and needy in 12 countries.
