In vulnerable regions of Bangladesh, poverty, displacement, and limited employment opportunities leave widows and single mothers struggling to provide for their families. In areas such as Cox’s Bazar, hardship is intensified by natural disasters, economic instability, and the long-term impact of hosting Rohingya refugee communities.

For many women, the lack of skills, tools, and income opportunities creates long-term dependency and insecurity.

The Power of a Sewing Machine

The Sewing Machine Project equips widows and single mothers with:

Sewing machines
Essential supplies
Skills training and education

This support enables women to produce and sell clothing, establish small home-based businesses, and generate a sustainable income for their families.

With the right tools, women regain independence, confidence, and the ability to support their children with dignity.

A Sustainable Sadaqa Jariyah

Providing a sewing machine is more than short-term aid. It is a long-term Sadaqa Jariyah, creating ongoing benefit every time a woman earns, feeds her family, and builds a stable future.

As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The one who looks after and works for a widow and a poor person is like a warrior fighting in the cause of Allah, or like one who fasts during the day and prays throughout the night.”
