The tradition of purchasing books of debt was practised throughout the Ottoman Empire and teaches us the sunnah of relieving hardships. Our local team in Lebanon have purchased a number of debt books owed by Syrian refugees who struggle to pay for their basic needs due to the state of the economy. This leaves them owing money to business owners and shop keepers. With your generous support we can continue this tradition and provide these families with relief by purchasing their debt with the intention of pleasing Allah (SWT) and supporting the Ummah.
Allah SWT says: "If it is difficult for someone to repay a debt, postpone it until a time of ease. And if you waive it as an act of charity, it will be better for you, if only you knew." Quran 2:280
